You may have gotten engaged over the holidays and are now thinking of planning your big day; wedding venues, budgets and a guest list are just some of the things you will need to think about. It can often be pretty difficult knowing where to start because of course, want your big day to be absolutely perfect – a day for all your guests to remember.

You do have a lot to think about but don’t let that stress you out, once the day is over you’ll wish you could relive it over and over so enjoy it while it lasts. If you are worried about where to start, then here are a few things that you will need to check off the list to begin with.

Pick a Date

You will need to decide when you want your big day to be – are you going to have a beautiful summer wedding? A white winter wedding? Or would you prefer it on a specific day – such as the anniversary of the day you first met?

Pick a date that you know will suit you as a couple and make sure you give yourself enough time to organise everything.

Draft Your Guest List

The guest list will, initially, determine the size of the venue you will require whilst also giving you a better idea of the kind of budget you are working with. If you have hundreds of people that you want to invite but can’t afford all of them you may need to think about shortening that list.

Decisions: Church or Civil Ceremony?

You may wish to have a traditional church wedding or perhaps a ceremony at the registry office but it’s something that you need to decide on pretty soon as leaving this too late could result in your big day having to be moved  – due to dates being fully booked.

Pick a Venue

The venue is a pretty important decision; you want somewhere that will really add that special something to your day. When searching for wedding venues, Nottingham is the ultimate place to go. You can choose from various different rooms to have your big day in and there are both indoor and outdoor options to match the needs of your special day. It is important to ensure that you pick a venue that is not only beautiful but also practical – your guests won’t want to be late so pick somewhere that is relatively easy to find.

Select Your Bridesmaids and Best Man

You may feel a bit nervous on the big day itself, so make sure that you have the key people that you love around you to keep you calm. Choosing your bridesmaid’s and best men is a big step as they will share every moment of your special day with you and on the build-up to the day, they will be able to take some of the load off and help with the planning.

Send Out Your ‘Save the Dates’

Lastly, you will need to do this s far in advance as possible to give your loved ones the opportunity to book sufficient time off, make travel arrangements and confirm any overnight accommodation. Make sure that any ‘plus ones’ are accounted for too, to ensure you have accurate numbers on your confirmed guest list.

There can be so much to do when planning a wedding but by using this checklist you should get off to a great start. For more information on booking wedding venues in Nottingham please visit Goosedale or give our dedicated events team a call on 0115 9635 433.
